Room 18 science experiment

Today room 18 did a science experiment with Miss Dunne. Ivor ( a scientist) and Mrs Sila'ila'i (deputy principle) came in to our class to observe what we were doing. We used vinegar, water, baking soda, raw spaghetti and cooked spaghetti.

We all made our predictions on what would happen to the water when we pour it in the vinegar. After that we checked our predictions if they were right. Following on from that, we made another prediction on what would happen if we put baking soda in the water and vinegar. After a while we had to explain the whole thing. We all had fun doing this. Here are some photos!

    War time. Water vs Vinegar.

Raw spaghetti, cooked spaghetti just put it all in.

    Starting to fizz!!

   Exploding time!!

The spaghetti that was at the bottom started to float back up again!!

Why do you think this happened?
What is your explanation?

  11. Thank you for sharing this with us. It looks like a lot of fun. Can you tell us why the vinegar and the baking soda and the water react in this way? I know when you put baking soda in hot milk, it all froths up. I know this because I had to put it in my banana cake mixture. from Mrs Robyns
